Another painting for the show that opens Wednesday 21 January 2015 at Carre d'Artistes grand format gallery l'Expo on rue Saint André des Arts, 75006 Paris.

I feel lucky to have been selected among the 600 artists of Carre d'Artistes for an exhibition in their prestigious Parisian gallery.  

Note to all those artists who think Carre d'Artistes is an easy gallery who takes just anyone, you are wrong.  They are exigent, they expect the best and are quite selective.  I've worked my hiney off since mid November for this exhibition and I only hope my paintings will be up to par.  Thursday I finished this last one and Friday I felt like I do after finishing paintings for every show, clueless. What next?  I just wanted a day off but that doesn't exist in the life of the creative self employed.

The show starts Wednesday and will run until April. 

new galeries and the Tinkerman

This painting has a funny name because the guy dressed in blue inspired me.  I was thinking a bit frustatedly, will save you the details, of how guys like to  fuddle around with constructing things or renovating stuff.  I think it is great to do that but when you happen to be in one of those hardware stores on Saturday morning it's hard not to remark the tinkers.  

The guy dressed in the blue t-shirt is carrying bags and poles.  He's got to wait for the light to turn before he can cross.

So for the news.  On may 12 I'll be exposing in galerie Terre des Arts for my 3rd big solo with them.  36 painting should be on the walls, most are pretty large.  Then in the end of May I'll be in the Grand Marché d'Art Contemporain at the Saint Sulpice.  I just signed on with Christian Dominé as a promoter/dealer for my paintings in France, Belgium and Switzerland.  Now the Galerie In3Arts in Metz is carrying my paintings and I've sent my first 40 paintings to Carré d'Artistes.  It's been a busy spring.

This is the last painting I'll complete for 2012.  The paint went on easily as this is on one of those fantastic canvases stretched on one of those super lightweight bars that I order from Zecchi in Florence.  Pieraccini is who makes them but won't sell direct.

Nonetheless the price is better than buying local art supplies and the quality, no comparison.

 To think that the canvas stretchers here in Paris are dinosaurs.  Can't beat the Italian design.

Anything I post after this for the rest of the year was painted before.

This is the last painting I'll be able to finish before the GMAC -Grande Marché d'Art Contemporain- at the Bastille that opens next Thursday, November 1st. I've been working non-stop since August 4th and am ready to put my feet up...

Here is what the walls of the stand 54 will look like.  I'm sharing MIROGI's habitual stand, thanks Michelle.  Check out her sexy nudes.  Considering I painted on two highly detailed New York scenes that took over a month to finish each, they're big, I am finally pleased with this last painting.  It's always like that, after about two months of work the paintings paint themselves.  See You Soon went on like butter on bread.

Tu est où?  Isnt' that the first thing we ask when we answer the telephone these days -- where are you?  Doesn't matter which language.  This painting is part of the Parisian Blue Hour paintings a series I've been working on since 2008.  

Finally, after more than four years I am understanding what it is that thrills me about painting the city.  These last three paintings along with Hotel du Louvre and Place Colette summarize the execution of the inspiration.  First it was people, then the color black, then it was night scenes and people, the long lasting blue sky, then it was neon signs. But these are the settings for the theme.

 It is the abstraction that night lights create first in my camera's lense; the big chunky spots of light that my spatula knife can spread onto a canvas like butter on bread. Yummy!

This will be for sale at stand 54  in the tent (chapiteau) at the Grand Marché d'Art Contemporain from 1-5 November

This is from the Mouffetard series, part of the Parisian Heure Bleue series.  I'm happy with this painting, only if it were a larger canvas.  This will be on display and for sale at stand 54 of the GMAC Bastille, Paris 1-5 November.

I could probably work on this painting for another two weeks but for now it is finished.  I have to move on to something fresh.  

Since August 5th I've finished two large paintings.  

In my mind this one works as a whole but the individual pieces are ugly.  Not rough like the first draft of a manuscript but plain ugly.  Its a characteristic of my painting, there is a rawness to it.  So they say.

I do like the guy in the red shirt on the left. He's the focal point.  Can you guess why?

Here is the painting that I'm working.  Only details are left, gotta put some depth into space around the figures on the left but the idea is there.  It's been hard to concentrate after the last months preparations for what you see below...

This photo was taken with my HTC phone and doesn't do the painting justice.  So many colors are washed out.  When the batteries recharge on my serious camera I'll get a better image. 

Anyway the I like the painting because it is of that hour of the day in Paris which is so special, the BLUE HOUR.  It is my pet - the parisian blue hour - when all the terraces fill for the apero, especially on warmer days.

Painting process of a New York City urban landscape

Here is an image of a canvas in the works: 70x100 cm oil painting of NYC Taxis.  This is a full days work.  Prodding along.

 Once I've chosen the drawing and put a ground down to set the tone for the painting I start with the most vivid colors.  I hope to finish this by Friday.  That's wishful thinking.

This painting took about forty hours to complete.  I've got three more medium sized paintings of NYC that I will finish for the show that is coming up fast.  Plus as many gourmandises I can paint.  My blurb catalogues arrived today and the many 750 invites I ordered are in the mail.  Now were rolling down hill.
