Crossing 7th

Crossing 7th
Oil and spray paint on canvas
100x150cm

I could probably work on this painting for another two weeks but for now it is finished.  I have to move on to something fresh.
Since August 5th I've finished two large paintings.
In my mind this one works as a whole but the individual pieces are ugly.  Not rough like the first draft of a manuscript but plain ugly.  Its a characteristic of my painting, there is a rawness to it.  So they say.
I do like the guy in the red shirt on the left. He's the focal point.  Can you guess why?

  1. Oooh, nice job, Angie. It looks like like a LOT of work - a lot. I love the movement and chaos on the bottom and the static stoic buildings on the top.

Hmmm, red shirt, well he might get hit by a car as he's crossing the "wrong" way, but I bet there's more. He might be leaving the city, running away, perhaps.

Do tell, I want to know!

  2. Hi Laura, it was and still is a lot of work. I'll have to do some more. I like the way you read into the scene. For mi it's purely pictorial, he's facing the other way. The wrong way I guess.

  3. Hi Angie, I've enjoyed browsing back through your blog. So glad I discovered you! Love these urban landscapes! I can feel the vibrant energy of the city in your work and I love your bold approach. Very nicely done!

Red shirt looks lost... everyone else is rushing to their destinations but he doesn't know where to go.
