This is the first of the diner series.   This diner is the Double T Diner in Frederick Maryland.

The new work will be shown for the first time at the Grand Marchè d'Art Contemporain GMAC at the Bastille from 1-5 May 2014

Here is the first work for 2014,  a request for a painting of Bordeaux, not quite a commission.  We'll save the detials.

It's not a spacy as atelier 28 of La Fabrique des Artistes in Ivry-sur-Seine...

 

but I do have heat and hot water - sigh. 

This atelier is up to rent if you are intersteted contact the chef at the Fabrique.  I left 60 cans of spray paint for the future artist.

Happy New Year! destockage old paintings for 2014

Hey there, sorry to post this late but it has been 18 months of house hunting, renovations and all the stress involved.  The last two months have been boxing, moving and everything else but painting.

I planned to paint in my old studio until the end of January but there was a leak from the studio upstairs.  Result, I had to move out because everything got humid, even the door that was stuck. I lost several paintings and lots of documents.

Today for the first time I opened my paint box and it felt great.  Here are some photos of what was going on, before I moved to the new place... 

I'll be posting more regulary and hosting some auctions on ebay of old works that don't fit me anymore nor do they fit into my new studio.  Which is much smaller but way nicer.  A photo coming soon.

I'll miss this awesome atelier where Farah Atassi once worked, even though it doesn' t feel right anymore. Still, I was sad when leaving.  A post industrial building on the outskirts of Paris perfect for creating freely, you can paint the walls, tag them, nail anywhere and basically trash the place or build it to your fancy.  Personally I like cleanliness and order.  Not the case last week.

 

I had to move everything away from the leak that came down like rain.

 

This is a box of manuscripts my father wrote, wet.

 

trashed paintings.  I cut them to peices and threw them out.  Oh well

This was one of the funnest paintings I have ever made, it just rolled off my brush. An unusual subject for me and Christmas surprise for a friend commissioned by his family.   

The beach is Saint Agnes in Cornwall.

I hope that all all your future days are as glorious as this day was!

See you in 2014 with a new series.  I'm moving atelier, been boxing stuff and painting rainbows on walls for the last six weeks. It will be nice to relax in the atelier again.

Upcoming Auction - 30 November 2013 at Rossini-Drouot

This painting will be on auction at Rossini november 30th at 2pm Paris time.  The auction is a charity where 100% of the proceeds go to the Association AMFE (Enfants Malades de Foie).  I hope they make buckets of money to help the kids and their families.  You can bid online.  Rossini is one of the largest auction houses in Europe.

Just to let you am quitting painting NYC.  Its been almost four years that I've been on this stint, now it's time to move on to new and more personal subject matter.  I love NY so lets leave it alone.

There is lots of detail in the painting, it took over a month to paint.

Here is the founder of the doctrine of Evolution.

Do you know this man?

His sculpture has a prominent position in the Jardin des Plantes.

Then I had to incorporate this drawing into the painting.  Not an easy task.

then it went here and I thought I would have to give up.
