Painting process of a New York City urban landscape

Here is an image of a canvas in the works: 70x100 cm oil painting of NYC Taxis.  This is a full days work.  Prodding along.
Once I've chosen the drawing and put a ground down to set the tone for the painting I start with the most vivid colors.  I hope to finish this by Friday.  That's wishful thinking.

Auction at Rossini -Paris

This is a leftover from 2006 when I was painting Italian cuisine.  The radicchio Trevisano is sitting on a canvas of 30x60 cm.  This is the only painting leftover from hundreds of Italian Cuisine series that started with 16 paintings of garlic in 1998 and finished with flattened table like compositions in 2006.  I look at this and think of grilling radicchio in the fireplace then dressing it with olive oil pressed from the olives that were in my garden.  I can see the fireplace and smell the wood burning, It smells like home...

Tonight is the viewing of the paintings at auction at Rossini.  They take absentee bids and surely speak English.  It's a chance to get one of my large paintings for a good price. Good bidding
 Here is the info:

151 Pink Doughnut

Pink Doughnut - n 151
oil on gessoboard, 15x15 cm (aprox 6x6 inches)
I thought I'd paint Tuscany until Christmas but some gallerists came to the studio Tuesday and took away fourteen paintings.  Here is their website Galerie J CH Robert in Honfleur, Normandy.  So that means I have to kick ass and do some good work.  The great thing is that they also want paintings of Paris.  So I've been busy this week, next week will dig in with the colors.  Here are a few shots of the studio:
This one is of a group of young adults on boulevard Saint Germain.
Taxis in Times Square

And the real pink doughnut on a silver platter I found at a flea market last Saturday -- the plate not the doughnut.

and other available paintings.
It has been too long that Mario Cappelletti from La Bottega in Castellina in Chianti has asked me for new paintings.  I promised that after the GMAC I would work for  him so from now until the end of the year I'm dedicating my time to new Tuscan paintings.  It is refreshing to return to a subject matter that I worked on from 1990 to 2006.  The first years were a discovery, riding on a 200E beige colored vespa into the Tuscan hills and painting from life under rainstorms or at sunrise.
I'll be posting photos of some of the most historic moments when I lived in Chianti and worked in La piazza.  Great times.  Refreshing it is also to relook old palette combinations with a sure hand and the desire for abstraction.  The above photo was taken with my HTC mobile and needs to be replaced with a high resolution image when the batteries recharge for my digital camera. It is a messy looking painting but I like it.

Tableaux en vente aux enchères à Rossini

The paintings below will be on auction the 26 November at one of the major auction houses of France, the Maison Rossini, Paris.  Because I donated the paintings to the ASPRHP, 100% of the earnings will benefit the Association de Soutien aux Parents et à la Recherche en Hépatologie Pédiatrique--ASPRHP (The original name of the association was Association of Children with Liver Disease).

This is a great chance to get one of my larger Parisian paintings for a small price. There is a link on the top of my blog where I will keep you informed.

Clic on: Maison Rossini to read about their conditions and see the online catalogue. Auction with absentee bidding starts at samedi 26 nov. 2011 à 14h00

Last day of the Grand Marche d'Art Contemporain 2011

Fondant Chocolat  n 104
Below is a photo of the canal with the Opera in the background, the Bastille is just to the left.  The white tent is just the beginning of the 600 stands that aline both sides of the canal.  The weather was excellent and so visitors were happy to walk both sides of the canal over the bridge and back in the tent. I am happy for all the artists that were outside and sales rocked!  Thanks for coming.
I hope you enjoy your paintings.
