Fleet Street Fire Escape

I really like this one. After painting Paris, finding New York was refreshing. It is absolutely full of color. Paris is beige, grey, white and black. Many people dress their kids in beige and blue, no dashing colors. I love New York, I heart NY.
I just put all the paintings of 2011 on my website, check it out...
Hi Ang-
ReplyDeleteI really, really like this one!!! It looks like a photo. The detail of the top fascade is wonderful. And, I too like the colors. Are you finding that your paintings of NYC sell in Paris because of the differences in contrasting colors? Have you thought of doing any 9/11 tribute paintings? I'd love to see you do that. Your eye for capturing NY is wonderful. Any upcoming shows in NY??
Nice!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, Don't ask me why NY paintings sell in Paris. The Parisians love NY, lots of galleries have artists that do urban landscapes. I think NY is just one of those mythic subjects. Thanks for liking.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura.
Love the perspective in this one and the cast shadows are amazing ! Super !

great, angie!! I too love the cascading fire escapes and have painted them many times, i love the designy patterns they create against the building fascades. yes, there is so much to paint in New York, it will take many lifetimes to paint it all
ReplyDeleteThank Helen, Thanks Patti, it is a bit of Italy and NY combined. The paint went on like butter.
